Documentary films on musicians and dancers. Screening on Dec. 17 and 18

Kutcheribuzz.com in association with Madhuradhwani is hosting a two day documentary film fest on Dec. 17 and 18, 2012 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

On Dec. 17, documentaries on S. Rajam, a multifaceted artist and musician and another on Sanjay Subrahmanyam will be screened.

On Dec. 17, documentaries on clarinet vidwan AKC Natarajan, T. Brinda and dancer - guru Adyar Lakshman will be screened. Free event,

Sitar concert in memory of Pt. Ravi Shankar

Aarkay Convention centre has organised a sitar recital by Pt. Janardhan Mitta  along with the renowned Tabla artiste Miss.Rimpa Siva on Dec. 17, 2012 at 6.30 in their hall on Royapettah High Road, Mylapore.

This concert is dedicated to Pandit Ravishankarji and Pt.Janardhan Mitta is one of his prime disciples.

Bharathanatyam exponent V P Dhanajayan and VV Sundaram will share their fond memories on Panditji.

Presentation on Balasaraswati's style of Bharatanatyam

Aniruddha M Knight, grandson of the legendary dancer T. Balasaraswati will be presenting a lec-dem on padams and javalis in Balasaraswati style.

This event will be held on Dec. 15, 2012 from  6 pm to 8 pm at :

The place can hold only a limited audience and seating is on first come first served basis. There is a token registration fee of Rs. 100.

SaMaaGaMa - cultural festival on Dec. 15 and 16, 2012

This is now season in Chennai and there is always more to music and dance.
Musician T.V. Ramprasad and his dancer wife Indira Kidambi have been organising an open-air cultural fest SaMaaGaMa since last year. The events includes workshops and performances by experts in the respective fileds.
This year also, the festival will be held in Nageswara Rao Park in Mylapore on Dec. 15 and 16, 2012.
Apart from music and dance, there are Origami workshops for children and Wellness workshops in Tai Chi, yoga and meditation for anyone who is health conscious this year.
The workshops start as early as 6 a.m. and go on till 9.30 p.m.

Exhibition of rare photos by Ashok Ramani

Musician Papanasam Ashok Ramani is putting up an exhibition of rare photos of yester year musicians collected by him over the years. He was sharing these pictures on his Face Book and at the request of the rasikas, he is displaying the pictures at an exhibition.

The exhibition will be in the premises of Narada Gana Sabha. It will be inaugurated on Dec. 12, 2012 at 5.30 p.m. by singers Nithyasree Mahadevan and P. Unnikrishnan.
The exhibition will be there till Dec. 31, 2012
